TRAINING METHODOLOGY

This output will deliver a training course including modules tailored for nurses and nursing students:
1. General background of Health literacy and eHealth literacy (definitions, prevalence, outcomes on patients, nurse and patient relationship and the role of communication)
2. Skills in practice-Identification of patients with limited health literacy. Communicating and educating health service users to increase their empowerment and self-efficacy in dealing with health problems: verbal communication methods and verification of patients’ understanding
3. Feasibility and Readability Issues and eHealth Challenges
4. The role of health and eHealth literacy and patient safety issues


Specific tasks of training methodology will follow five methodological steps:
• Literature review and comparative national surveys to identify the existing curricula related to this topic
• Delphi survey for the specific training needs of the nurses to assess the proposed training curriculum
• Development of the curriculum modules, including specific steps
• Development of the contents for the particular course
• Translation of contents into national languages

E-LEARNING COURSE

E-LEARNING COURSE

The e-learning course, available in all partners’ languages, will be accessible for free from a dedicated e-learning platform. For each module, users will be able to go through interactive resources, including:
Background information (including, where appropriate, video-tutorials and step-by-step guides)
Online exercises to practice the acquired skills
Self-assessment tools
Online glossary and access to the FAQ library
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to download an attendance certificate as well as an open-badge

IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF THE BLENDED LEARNING COURSE

IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF THE BLENDED LEARNING COURSE

The blended learning course will include the face to face training and the eLearning course. Each partner will test the course at the local level with nurses and nurses students, assessing the suitability and time length in the population of interest.

BEST PRACTICES RECOMMENDATIONS

The best practice recommendations will aim to improve the health care service use by patients with low health and eHealth literacy. It will include information from previous research, the current project pilot outcomes and recommendations on how to use the specific training to reassure sustainability. The recommendations of best practices aim to orientate professionals and organisations to improve in this specific field of work
